Built by Developers Who Needed a Better Licensing System

LicenseSpring was created out of necessity.

Our sister company, PDF Pro Software, needed a licensing platform capable of issuing thousands of new software licenses daily. Existing options forced a difficult trade-off:

Smaller vendors lacked the sophistication required for complex licensing needs.

Enterprise vendors were expensive, slow to evolve, and difficult to implement.

Rather than compromise, we built our own licensing infrastructure. What began as an internal tool eventually became LicenseSpring.

Today, LicenseSpring powers licensing and entitlement management for companies across software, manufacturing, aerospace, life sciences, and embedded systems.

2015

The Beginning

LicenseSpring began as an internal licensing server built to support PDF Pro’s large-scale licensing needs.

2017

Public Release

The platform was released publicly to gather feedback. Hundreds of developers began using the platform and contributed valuable insights that shaped the product.

2019

First Commercial Customers

LicenseSpring began onboarding paying customers using the platform for desktop applications, offline licensing, and node-locked license enforcement. SDKs were released for:
